A Grade II listed Victorian home in the heart of Snowdonia — where generations gather between the mountains and the sea.
Chapter One
Gwynfryn House is far more than a holiday home. It is a house with a soul — a place where generations have gathered, stories have been shared, and memories have been made against one of the most breathtaking backdrops in Britain.
Originally built as a salmon lodge for Victorian gentlemen who came to fish these rivers and coastline, Gwynfryn later became a much-loved family home. That history is still alive today — photographs, newspaper cuttings and documents are displayed throughout the lounge. From the moment you walk through the door, there is a sense that Gwynfryn has lived many lives: elegant yet relaxed, grand yet welcoming.

At the rear, a secluded terraced garden — reached through the utility area off the kitchen or down the rear steps — with seating tucked among dry-stone walls and a couple of benches for quiet mornings. Dog-friendly, once the gate is secured.
To the front, a larger, sunny space for gatherings: a picnic bench seating up to ten and a dedicated barbecue area, with birdsong and the river close by.

Arranged over three floors, Gwynfryn comfortably accommodates families and groups — a spacious living area at its heart, designed to bring people together after days spent exploring the mountains, beaches and coastline.
“ Gwynfryn is somewhere you experience North Wales at its very best.

The most special place we have ever stayed. Gwynfryn has a soul you feel the moment you walk in — the river running past, the mountains all around.
We came for the mountains and fell in love with the beaches. Shell Island, Portmeirion, Snowdonia all within minutes. Grand yet so welcoming.
Ten of us, three floors, two log fires — and the natural swimming hole on the Artro five minutes from the door. Magical.
